 Children Portraits and Pet Portraits

Does your dog love to chew on a favorite toy, play in the creek or even chase his/her tail? Let me capture the personality of your pet in a forever memory. Coco and Maddie were excited to see me painting their furry friends during the year.  I am looking forward to painting lots of beloved pets this upcoming year! Pet portraits make great gifts all year round.

How can you take a good photograph?

PORTRAITS become a forever reminder of the love you share with your pet. That is why I use only archival materials for the best quality of portrait.

PHOTOGRAPHY: The pet portraits I paint are done from the photos you send me. Send me as many as you can so I can choose the best photo for the portrait. Let me know your favorite photo/pose and I will let you know if it is suitable to work from. Digital images should be high resolution and may be emailed. Also, you may mail physical photos of your pet, please make copies of these photos in case there is any possible damage to the photo upon mailing.

.

LIGHTING: If possible, photograph your pet outside in natural lighting, for this will show their colors and markings most accurately. However, avoid strong sunlight as this may make areas of the photo too bright or cast dark shadows. A bright but overcast day is ideal. If you're unable to photograph outside, try to photograph in an area that is well lit with natural light, such as near a window. Avoid using the flash or having indoor lights on. A lot of the pets I paint have passed on, please know I will work with the photos you have to paint the best portrait possible.

VIEWS: The ideal photos are taken on the same level as your pet instead of from above. If you can't get down on the same level as your pet put them up on something. Get as close as you can to your pet, but please don't cut off their ears. If you would like more than one animal in the painting, it is better to photograph them separately to get the best shot of each one. If possible, I would also need a photo showing the animals next to each other, purely so I can see the differences in size/height

TELL ME about your pet. I love hearing about their adventures, and I want to know their name/names.  Knowing something about their history and personality makes the photos you send "come alive" to me. I think about the stories I've been told while I'm painting. It feels like I know them.

OTHER COSTS: Shipping will be estimated upon your address and size of painting.

FRAMING: Frames are available for an additional cost. Photos sent upon request of frames available.
